Women’s Month: Celebrating Women and Growing What Matters at RCL FOODS

At RCL FOODS, our commitment to diversity and inclusion is not just a strategy but a core value, and we are committed to bring it to life. We believe that by empowering women, We Grow What Matters for our employees, our business, and our communities. These initiatives are more than just programmes; they are pathways to creating a more inclusive, dynamic, and successful workplace.

From learning and development to leadership initiatives, we are committed to supporting the growth and success of women across all our business units. Here is some of the programmes we are running to support this:

Groceries Women Empowerment Learnership (NQF 4)

We are proud to announce that ten talented women have enrolled in our Groceries Women Empowerment – Generic Management Learnership. This qualification offers an enriching experience, providing valuable insights and skills essential for roles in food manufacturing. The programme covers leadership fundamentals, communications, and specialised skills in areas like SHERQ, HR, Food Technology, and Supply Chain. In addition, we have also commenced a Women Empowerment programme consisting of six modules for all females in groceries commencing at Randfontein. This programme focuses on mental well-being, financial well-being and relationship empowerment.

Women in Leadership (NQF 5)

In our Baking Business Unit, we have launched the inaugural Women in Leadership Programme, welcoming thirteen participants from various locations, including Rustenburg Bakery, Nelspruit Bakery, Pretoria Bakery, Polokwane Bakery, Tzaneen Bakery, Milling, and Pies. This initiative equips women with the necessary knowledge and skills to take on leadership positions, such as team leaders, supervisors, junior managers, section heads, and foremen.

Group Services & Growth Women Empowerment Learnership

We have launched our Women Empowerment Series “Empowered women Empower women’’. This consists of masterclasses which are designed to amplify the voices of women, boost their confidence, and increase their visibility among senior stakeholders. these custom empowerment programmes cover vital topics such as Mental Wellbeing, Financial Well-being, Relationship Empowerment, Networking, and Confidence Building. We also have launched in this female only Women Empowerment Learnership for eight ladies on the Business Administration qualification Level 4. This learnership is curated to ensure the impact of empowering females is highlighted through various content elements.

Dale Carnegie Course for Women’s Empowerment

From October and November 2024, 30 talented women from junior to middle management from across all Business Units will embark on a transformative 3-day Dale Carnegie Course. This programme aims to boost self-confidence, enhance people skills, supercharge communication abilities, unlock leadership potential, and promote overall well-being.

Women’s Circle Series

We are also excited to introduce the Women’s Circle Series, which will run in September, featuring six circle conversations in total. The conversation circles are open to all genders, aimed at fostering connection, dialogue, and understanding of issues impacting women. These circles will create a space for women across the business to come together and engage in meaningful discussions, with the goal of enhancing appreciation for the roles women play in the workplace and society.

This Women’s Month, we are passing the spoon to the incredible women of RCL FOODS. Together, we can Grow What Matters and create a lasting impact on our business and beyond.
