Humans of RCL FOOD – Keneilwe Thabethe

Compassion & Community Upliftment

Meet Keneilwe Thabethe, who has been uplifting her community in Stinkwater, Hammanskraal for the past 8 months. Keneilwe and her mother, Rebecca began giving out clothes to teens in their community, becoming beacons of light in the midst of trying times. The overwhelming gratitude they received saw them expand into providing food parcels. The pair purchase essential food items with their own money, delivering parcels at night to preserve dignity of their beneficiaries.

Keneilwe is an intern at Groceries and her mother works as a domestic worker, and having come from a disadvantaged background, this is a cause that is close to their hearts. They gather the little they have to make an impact in the lives of the most impoverished in their community.

“The purpose of my life is to be a source of light to other people and radiate positivity,” she expresses, reflecting her passion for making a difference. This extends beyond her charity work. She also donates blood, and actively supports individuals applying for jobs and universities. She wants to help cultivate an environment within her community, where teenagers have positive role models and reach their full potential without societal issues weighing them down.

Keneilwe believes in the power of contributing to the well-being of society in various ways. An ethos she applies to her work at RCL FOODS as a lab analyst intern. “I get to see the direct results of my efforts, which is incredibly rewarding,” she says.

When Keneilwe isn’t helping others or working, she is studying towards a Diploma in Biotechnology. She is set to graduate next year and hopes to continue working in the food industry.
