Growing what matters in F23 through 828 Learnership and Apprenticeships
We are pleased to announce that, earlier this year RCL FOODS’s Learning and Development Function successfully rolled out 828 employed and unemployed registered Learnership and Apprenticeships to employees and to unemployed youth in South Africa. This investment in the number of learnerships as rolled out was a 20% increase from the prior year. What’s more, 96 participants in these learnerships are People living with Disabilities that we were able to help empower for future success.
These learnerships and apprenticeships are driven across all areas of the business, covering many fields and qualifications ranging from Generic Management, Food Manufacturing Management, Sugar Production Management (first of it’s kind in the Sugar Industry), Business Administration, Sales and Marketing, Project Management, and Supply Chain Management Learnerships. Not only are they assisting in upskilling employees, but they are also supporting unemployed youth to earn a stipend while gaining skills to enhance their employability.
“This is part of how we are delivering on our commitment to growing what matters to our people, through interactive and practical development interventions,” says Charmaine Boshoff, Group HR Executive: L & D and Transformation.
We believe that we can only achieve MORE as a business through our people. In the 2023 Financial year we’ve invested R56,3 million in training and development of 9 088 employees – up from R48 million in 2022.
Going forward, developing, what matters is at the heart of our Learning strategy, and we’re committed to helping our people to learn the necessary skills to stay fit in the high-performing environment we operate in. It is our strong belief that people with purpose thrive, and that’s why we continue to upskill our employees in our effort to grow what matters.
Our high-performance culture requires high-performing people, and we are committed to helping our people to grow themselves with future-fit skills that can match the everchanging world we work in.
