CREATING VALUE FROM WASTE, ONE #DoMoreBag AT A TIME

As a leading South African food manufacturer, we believe that it is our responsibility to give back to the communities we operate in. That’s why our DO MORE FOUNDATION has been taking an active role in empowering youth from impoverished communities with the skills and training to sew, while reducing plastic use and turning “waste” into #DoMoreBags.

What started as a simple sewing program with the intention to provide skills training to unemployed youth, has now become a registered PTY (LTD) business entity with huge opportunity for growth to DO MORE good.

Inspired by the principle of a ‘circular economy’, we use our existing resources to empower and upskill previously unemployed youth and create lasting employment opportunities. In turn, they produce #DoMoreBags crafted from leftover branded fabric from old branding material, providing a long-lasting and environmentally friendly alternative to the plastic bags that are choking our planet by the trillion. What’s more, proceeds of each bag sold is reinvested in the project to support the youth who make the bags.

“This project brings together everything we believe in as the DO MORE FOUNDATION: seeing and doing things differently, empowering women, uplifting impoverished communities, reducing waste, and creating value from materials that would otherwise be discarded. Our hope is that our #DoMoreBags project will inspire people and organisations to reduce the plastic they consume by supporting and to reuse, recycle or repurpose the waste they do generate. If we all did that, imagine what a difference we could make”, says Partnership Manager Iris Naidoo.

These bags are unique in that no two bags are the same. Available right now at R60, orders can be sent anywhere in the country at no additional cost. These bags can also be customized with your own company logo at a small additional fee.

Together we really can make an impact, one bag at a time!
