At RCL FOODS, we’re passionate about inspiring each and every employee to do ‘that little more’ so that together, we can achieve our shared purpose of growing what matters. We believe that we can do this by growing our people and providing them with the opportunity to continuously learn more. That’s why we set up the LEARN MORE COLLEGE in 2019, an exciting initiative launched to create growth opportunities for our people through focused learning programmes.
Our Leadership development focus at RCL FOODS is continuously striving to develop leaders today for the future through world class customised Leadership development programmes and initiatives.
These include growing a pipeline of future leaders through our RCL FOODS Management Trainee Development programme and transitional leadership development programmes which focus on accelerating employees’ career growth through customised initiatives.
Functional-specific skills are provided, in order to ensure that functional capability is built throughout the organisation.
• To increase functional capability by strengthening core competency sets.
• Create alignment of competency standards within respective disciplines across the business.
• A structured method of establishing competence and expertise per role.
• To strengthen the RCL FOODS talent pipeline and retain key talent.

We recognise the critical importance of partnering with the various operational teams in order to build a broad pool of talented individuals to enhance productivity and business performance. Operational development across the various Business Units, ensures that we are delivering skills that are fit for purpose such as skills development initiatives for artisans, engineers, scientists, technologists, logistics professionals, milling professionals, bakers, operators and poultrymen.
The learning framework in these units consist of qualifications, learnerships, skills programmes, apprenticeships and an array of learning events.
Our team effectiveness workshops, utilising various methodologies & the integration of OUR WAY, offer a deep dive into self-awareness. In addition to this, the workshops develop team dynamics with a focus on team strategy, aligning the team culture and behaviours to goals and a vision.
OUTCOMES:
• Increased self-awareness and ownership of key strengths and weaknesses.
• Managing ‘derailers’ to create high performance and strong relationships.
• Team cohesion as members respect, value and leverage differences.
• Effective communication within the team.
• Ability to speed read and build rapport with key stakeholders.
• Development of a Team Charter as a quick reference guide for communication and to hold each other accountable to fulfil goals and commitments.
